    Come join the Phoenix section of the IES for an exclusive private tour of one of the nation’s largest nuclear power plants. Limit 15 people, first come first served.

    November 29th all day event (schedule below)

    Palo Verde Generating Station has been the nation’s largest power producer of any kind for more than 25 years – all of it clean and carbon-free. The plant is a critical asset to the Southwest, generating more than 32 million megawatt-hours annually – enough power for more than 4 million people.  This IES tour will look at how power is generated to create electricity to power the lights we use every day.  We will also be looking at heavy industrial lighting applications such as class 1 div 1 lighting fixtures with the plant manager.

    Sign up will be closed 10 days prior to the event for security measures, which will be sent in a separate email once you are registered.

    Lunch will be provided.  Carpooling can also be arranged.

    Arrive at 8am then get badges until around 9am
    9-12 Plan Tour (Meet with head of electrical department to go over the faculties unique lighting challenges such as federal licenses required to install a light bulb) 
    12 - lunch and presentation
    1:30-2pm Tour Ends
